Guitar Course Video
During the week you will focus on developing the following key areas of your guitar playing: Strengthen your vibrato, string bends, rhythm playing, stamina and phrasing. Learn a wide range of blues progressions and structures, while expanding your chord and scale knowledge. Build your confidence by playing with other guitarists and learn to develop lead solo ideas and express yourself during the improvised jam sessions.
The course will consist of four hours tuition per day, broken into three daily sessions. You will also receive a 30-minute one-to-one guitar lesson with Richard. You will retrace the footsteps of the great players in the history of blues guitar. Along the way expect to cover the blues greats, including Eric Clapton, BB King, Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Jeff Beck and Stevie Ray Vaughan on a journey towards the modern playing styles of Larry Carlton, Robben Ford and Joe Bonamassa.
You will be encouraged to work together in small groups and classes will be arranged to support various areas of development and interest. It is not a formal requirement to be able to read music to attend this course. The supporting course handouts will use a mixture of tablature (with standard notation) and chord/scale diagrams with slash charts. All classes will be taught in a relaxed and supportive environment with practical demonstrations throughout.
